Praca stanowi przekrojową analizę pierwszego sezonu serialu "Once Upon a Time" (2011 Scenariusz autorstwa Edwarda Kitsisa i Adama Horowitza został opraty na reinterpretacjach baśni braci Grimm i Charlesa Perraulta. "Once Upon a Time" to przykład nowego serialu, reprezentującego "quality TV", telewizję nowej jakości, której programy charakteryzują się złożonością narracyjną oraz estetyką bliską produkcjom kinowym.We wstępie omówię szczegółowo terminologię oraz przedmiot badań – serial telewizyjny. W kolejnych rozdziałach przeanalizuję fabułę oraz zestawię baśniowe pierwowzory z sylwetkami serialowych bohaterów. The fairy tales present some universal values and the themes that tend to inspire filmmakers. The thesis is a cross-sectional analysis of the first season of the TV show “Once Upon a Time” (2011-2013). The screenwriters of the series, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, were highly influenced by the Grimm Brothers’ tales as well as Charles Perrault’s ones. “Once Upon a Time” can be classified as an example of “high quality TV” characterized by the complexity of the narrative and the cinema aesthetic. An introduction contains the discussion of the terminology and the object of study – TV Dramas. The following sections analyze and compile the fairy tales’ prototypes with the profiles of drama’s protagonists. The analysis includes: Snow White and the Evil Queen, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and the Beauty and the Beast.The comparisons of the characters have been built based on the psychoanalytical theories by Carl G. Jung, especially his concept of the archetype as well as the theory of the hero’s journey described by Joseph Campbell.The ending of the thesis refers to the primary reception of the contemporary TV series and dramas in the Internet or TV and the DVD releases as a secondary reception. A separate chapter is dedicated to the fans and the Internet activity.
