The silhouette of a woman in the literature of positivism - based on the novels "Marta" by Eliza Orzeszkowa and "Lalka" by Bolesław Prus juxtaposed with the representation of women in the art of the 21st century

Praca ma na celu ukazanie początków ruchu emancypacyjnego na ziemiach polskich w XIX wieku i jego odbicie w tekstach najwybitniejszych pozytywistów warszawskich dążących do zmiany sytuacji społecznej kobiet. Zarówno „Marta” Elizy Orzeszkowej, jak i „Lalka” Bolesława Prusa są powieściami uniwersalnymi, które wciąż ujmują w sposób poruszający i interesujący tematy bliskie nawet współczesnemu czytelnikowi pozytywistycznych dzieł. W powieści tendencyjnej „Marta” zostaje postawiona i udowodniona teza emancypacyjna, z kolei Bolesław Prus w „Lalce” ukazuje jedynie konstrukt kobiety zbudowany z męskich wyobrażeń, stających się dominantą do zafałszowanego obrazu kobiecych uczuć, emocji, działania.Sylwetki bohaterek kobiecych z powieści pozytywistycznych zestawione z obrazami Mirosława Rusinka i Rafała Olbińskiego ukazują wyobrażenie współczesne o bohaterkach, odzwierciedlają ich życie w sposób metaforyczny – zbliżają nowoczesnego czytelnika do kreacji ukazanych przez Orzeszkową oraz Prusa.

The thesis aims to show the origins of the emancipation movement in the Polish lands in the 19th century and its reflection in the texts of the most prominent Warsaw positivists aiming to change the social situation of women. Both "Marta" by Eliza Orzeszkowa and "Lalka" by Boleslaw Prus are universal novels that still capture in a moving and interesting way topics that are close even to modern readers of positivist works. In the tendentious novel "Martha" the emancipation thesis is set and proven, while Boleslaw Prus in "Doll" shows only the construct of a woman built from male images, becoming a dominant to the falsified image of women's feelings, emotions, actions.The silhouettes of female characters from positivist novels juxtaposed with paintings by Mirosław Rusinek and Rafał Olbiński show the contemporary image of heroines, reflecting their lives in a metaphorical way - bringing the modern reader closer to the creations portrayed by Orzeszkowa and Prus.
