The journey through America with David Lynch. Polemic with the convention of the road movie genre in Wild at Heart and Straight Story

Praca dotyczy zagadnień z zakresu filmoznawstwa. Podjęty w niej został temat twórczości Davida Lyncha w kontekście kina drogi. W skróconym opisie historii gatunku zaznaczony jest jego związek z przemianami społecznymi, ekonomicznymi oraz kulturowymi w Stanach Zjednoczonych oraz ich wpływ na powstawanie konwencji gatunkowej kina drogi. Najwięcej uwagi poświęca się dwóm filmom Davida Lyncha, w których wyraźnie zaznacza się ich polemiczny charakter z filmami drogi - "Dzikość serca" z 1990 roku oraz "Prosta historia" z 1999 roku. The dissertation centres on the issues of film studies. It raises the subject of David Lynch's film works in the context of the road movie genre. In the summary description of the history of a genre is highlighted its relationship with social, economic and cultural changes in the United States and their impact on the formation of the road movie convention. Most attention is given to two films of David Lynch, which clearly indicate their polemical nature with the code of a road movie genre - "Wild at Heart" from 1990 and "The Straight Story" from 1999. The movies are analyzed in terms of the characteristics of the main characters, the theme road and the image of America, which they present.
