The fate of the wolf children after World War II. A discourse analytical investigation

Tematem niniejszej pracy licencjackiej jest los wilczych dzieci po drugiej wojnie światowej. Ponieważ pojęcie to nie cieszy się dużą popularnością, głównym celem jest dotarcie do większego grona odbiorców poprzez rozpatrzenie go na wielu płaszczyznach. W tym celu na wstępie zostało przedstawione tło historyczne, które wyjaśnia genezę pojęcia wilczych dzieci i jest podwaliną do kolejnych rozdziałów niniejszej pracy licencjackiej. W kolejnych rozdziałach analizie i opisowi została poddana naukowa koncepcja. Owa koncepcja bazuje na rozpoznaniu pamięci kolektywnej, tj. pamięci określonej grupy ludzi, która jest przekazywana na różne sposoby. Metodą, za pomocą której zostało zanalizowane pojęcie wilczych dzieci, jest krytyczna analiza dyskursu. W celu realizacji podjętego tematu posłużono się źródłami audiowizualnymi oraz odpowiednią literaturą. Wykaz ten stanowił podstawę do omówienia wiodącego motywu pracy. W kolejnych rozdziałach, tj. w części empirycznej, zostały opisane i poddane analizie autentyczne historie wilczych dzieci w oparciu o opis ich życia codziennego w ówczesnych czasach. Ponadto przedstawiono również wyniki przeprowadzonego badania ankietowanego, którego celem było zbadanie znajomości pojęcia wilczych dzieci wśród ludności niemieckiej. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych w pracy analiz materiałów źródłowych, literatury oraz wyników ankiet, można stwierdzić, iż pomimo że los wilczych dzieci stanowi ważną część historii powojennych Niemiec, nie jest on powszechnie znany wśród ludności.

The subject of this thesis is to investigate the fate of the wolf children after the World War II. Because of the fact that this term does not have a wide appeal among society, the main aim this bachelors thesis is to get round to the larger audience through consideration this term in many grounds. At the beginning there was shown a historical background, which clarified the origins of the term wolf children and is a cornerstone to analyse the subsequent chapters of the present bachelors thesis. In the following chapters a scientific conception have been analyzed and characterized. The above conception is grounded on a recognition of collective memory, that is to say a memory of a certain group of people, which is passed along on different ways. A method, by means of which the term wolf children was scrutinized, is called a critical discourse analysis. In order to implement the taken topic, there was made a use of audiovisual sources and the appropriate literature. This list provided the basis for discussing the leading topic of the bachelor`s thesis.In subsequent chapters, id est in an empirical part, the authentic stories of the wolf children were come up for a scrutiny based on a depiction of their daily life in the contemporary times. Moreover, there were presented results of a survey, the main aim of which was to research the awareness of the term wolf children among the German people. To conclude from the conducted sources analysis, literature of the subject and survey it can be stated that in spite of the fact that a wolf children fate forms an important part of the post-war Germany, it is not generally know among society.

Die vorliegende Bachelorarbeit handelt von dem Schicksal der Wolfskinder nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Da dieser Begriff nicht bekannt ist, setzt sich diese Arbeit zum Ziel, ihn mithilfe der Erörterung dieses Phänomens auf mehreren Ebenen zu verbreiten. In dem ersten Kapitel wurden die historischen Grundlagen angesprochen, die die Genese des Begriffs Wolfskinder erklären und als Fundament für weitere Kapitel dieser Arbeit zu betrachten sind. In den folgenden Passagen wurde das wissenschaftliche Konzept analysiert und beschrieben. Das erwähnte Konzept basiert auf dem kollektiven Gedächtnis. Eine Methode, mithilfe deren der Ausdruck Wolfskinder analysiert wurde, ist die kritische Diskursanalyse. Um das Thema in die Tat umzusetzen, benutzte man audiovisuelle Quellen und entsprechende Literatur. Das Verzeichnis ist die Grundlage zur Besprechung des Leitmotives der vorliegenden Bachelorarbeit. In den weiteren Kapiteln wurden die zuverlässigen Lebensgeschichten der Wolfskinder erwähnt, die auf Beschreibungen ihres Alltags in damaligen Zeiten basieren. Darüber hinaus wurden auch die Umfrageergebnisse dargestellt, deren Ziel es war, die Begriffskenntnisse Wolfskinder unter der deutschen Bevölkerung zu schätzen.Aufgrund der in der Bachelorarbeit durchgeführten Quellen-, Literaturanalyse und Analyse der Umfrageergebnisse, kann man feststellen, dass obwohl das Schicksal der Wolfskinder ein wichtiger Teil des Nachkriegsdeutschlands ist, ist er nicht allgemein bekannt unter der deutschen Bevölkerung.
