Abstract in English
The present paper focuses on the analysis of the translation of one of Anatolij Kim’s most important novels – "Lotus". Having analysed the main motifs present in the novel, such as death, immortality, or the idea of "transformation", the author of paper concludes that the translational shifts encountered in the target text have a detrimental effect on the translated text. Due to the omissions and other shifts introduced by the translator, the picture of the emotions experienced by the characters of "Lotus" has been substantially altered.
