Ways in which the Aviation Valley cluster influences the development of knowledge linked to the aviation industry

Zasadniczym problemem badawczym podejmowanym w niniejszej pracy jest próba określenia, jak klaster Dolina Lotnicza oddziałuje i zarządza rozwojem wiedzy o przemyśle lotniczym. A także jakie efekty przynoszą stosowane w tym celu w regionie formy i narzędzia rozwoju wiedzy. Analiza wskazanych wyżej kwestii poprzedzona jest przedstawieniem pojęcia i istoty klastra oraz problematyką zarządzania wiedzą w regionie. Kluczowym filarem w procesie rozwoju wiedzy i umiejętności związanych z przemysłem lotniczym, jest działająca przy klastrze Fundacja Wspierania Edukacji przy Stowarzyszeniu Dolina Lotnicza. Głównymi narzędziami oddziaływania Fundacji są projekty, których zakres i formy uzupełniają się wzajemnie. Analizie poddano dwa projekty realizowane przez Fundację: projekt „Badania warunków termicznych do lotów szybowców na terenie Bieszczadów” oraz Politechnikę Dziecięcą w Mielcu. Badaniami objęto beneficjentów projektów, gdyż to pozwoliło określić wpływ projektów na rozwój wiedzy obu badanych grup.

The fundamental research problem addressed in this paper is an attempt to define how the Aviation Valley cluster influences and manages the development of knowledge about the aviation industry, and, also, what effects are brought about by the forms of and tools for developing knowledge employed with this purpose in the region. The analysis of the above-mentioned matters is preceded by a presentation of the notion and essence of the cluster, and by the issues of knowledge management in the region. The crucial pillar of the process of the development of knowledge and abilities connected to the aviation industry is the Foundation for the Support of Education at the Aviation Valley Society, which operates along with the cluster. The main tools employed by the Foundation are projects, whose scope and forms are complementary to each other. Two projects carried out by the Foundation have been analyzed: the Study of thermal conditions for gliders’ flights in the Bieszczady project, and Children’s Polytechnic in Mielec. The beneficiaries of the projects have been included in the study, as it allowed for defining the influence of the projects on the development of knowledge in both studied groups.
