Concentration camp and the way its presentation in the works of Alexander Solzhenitsyn and Varlam Shalamov. "One day of Ivan Denisovich" and "Kolyma Tales"

Celem niniejszej pracy jest ukazanie różnic w sposobie kreacji obrazu obozów koncentracyjnych w utworach: "Jeden dzień Iwana Denisowicza" Aleksandra Sołżenicyna i "Opowiadania kołymskie" Warłama Szałamowa. Mimo tego, iż pisarze należeli do jednej tradycji tematycznej inaczej realizowali temat obozowy w swojej twórczości. Owe różnice wynikają z odmiennych światopoglądów pisarzy ukształtowanych w innym doświadczeniu. Autorka dysertacji porównuje cztery wybrane jednakowe elementy strukturalne dzieł: konstrukcje czasu i przestrzeni, strukturę narracyjną, warstwę językową, a także sposób kreacji bohaterów (skupiając się głównie na relacjach między więźniami, a także ich stosunku do pracy).

The aim of this paper is to show the differences in image creation of concentration camps in the works: "One day of Ivan Denisovich" Solzhenitsyn's and "Kolyma Tales" Shalamov's. Despite the fact that the writers belonged to the same thematic's tradition, they chose another way to create the concentration camp in their works. These differences result from the different world views of writers formed in another experience. The author of the dissertation compares the four selected works of the same structural elements: construction of space and time, narrative structure, language, and the creation of the characters (focusing mainly on relationships between prisoners and their attitiude to work).
