The role of central bank in the economy (case study of National Bank of Poland)

Praca zawiera rozważania dotyczące roli pełnionej przez bank centralny w gospodarce, na przykładzie Narodowego Banku Polskiego.Pierwszy rozdział dotyczy historii bankowości centralnej, niezależności Narodowego Banku Polskiego oraz zasad funkcjonowania NBP. Drugi rozdział zawiera rozważania na temat polityki pieniężnej NBP: ewolucji jej celu, polityki kursowej banku centralnego oraz instrumentów polityki pieniężnej. Trzeci rozdział poświęcono charakterystyce polityki monetarnej polskiego banku centralnego w latach 1998-2012. W czwartym rozdziale zawarto rozważania dotyczące roli Narodowego Banku Polskiego w utrzymaniu stabilności finansowej w Polsce.

The presented thesis includes deliberations about the role of central bank in economy leaded by example of National Bank of Poland. In the first chapter, we can find some information relating to central banking in Poland, like its story, the increase of independence of National Bank of Poland and the description of its functions. The second chapter states about the Polish Central Bank’s monetary policy like, the evolution of its goals, the exchange rate policy of central bank and the monetary policy instruments used by the NBP. The third chapter includes the description of monetary policy of National Bank of Poland in the years 1998-2012. The last chapter includes deliberations about the role of NBP in maintenance of the financial stability in Poland.
