The impact of a surgery on the process of rehabilitation of carpal tunnel syndrome treatment.

Zespół kanału nadgarstka jest najczęściej występującą neuropatią z ucisku kończyny górnej, która w decydujący sposób wpływa na obniżenie jakości życia chorego.Celem pracy było prześledzenie procesu usprawniania z dysfunkcją cieśni nadgarstka w zależności od stopnia zaawansowania choroby, podjętej diagnostyki i czasu trwania choroby. Badaniem objęto 50 osób (38 kobiet i 12 mężczyzn) w wieku 35-65 lat z zdiagnozowanym zespołem kanału nadgarstka. Oceniano występowanie takich objawów jak: ból, drętwienie, trudności w życiu codziennym związane z ZKN, zastosowaną terapię i efekty zastosowanego postępowania rehabilitacyjnego.Uzyskane wyniki potwierdziły wysoce istotną statystycznie zależność pomiędzy stopniem nasilenia bólu w nocy, a podjęciem decyzji o leczeniu operacyjnym, oraz, że osoby skarżące się na regularne bóle nocne częściej korzystały z zabiegów rehabilitacyjnych.Stopień zaawansowania choroby będzie decydował o formie rehabilitacji w ZKN, jedynie skuteczną formą rehabilitacji w przypadku zaawansowanym stadium choroby będzie zabieg operacyjny i fizjoterapia po nim.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is the most common neuropathy caused by the compression of upper extremity, which has extremely negative impact on the quality of a patient’s life. The aim of the study was to analyze the rehabilitation process of carpal tunnel syndrome dysfunction, which depends on the stage of the disease, the diagnosis as well as the duration of illness.The study includes 50 patients (38 women and 12 men) aged 35-65 years with carpal tunnel syndrome diagnosed. There are some symptoms assessed such as pain, numbness, difficulty in daily life associated with CTS, the undertaken therapy and the effects of the applied rehabilitation exercises.The obtained results confirmed that, from a statistical point of view, there are highly significant relationships between the severity of pain at night and taking a decision on surgery and that, those patients who suffer from regular night pain often benefit from rehabilitation.The degree of the disease progression determines the form of rehabilitation as for CTS. The only effective form of rehabilitation of the advanced disease is a surgery followed by proper physiotherapy.
