Occitan, a regional language

Tematem pracy jest współczesna sytuacja języka oksytańskiego, traktowanego jako zbiór dialektów południa Francji. Pierwsza część zawiera wprowadzenie i omówienie kilku najważniejszych pojęć związanych z nauką o językach regionalnych. Przedstawia również bardziej szczegółowo język oksytański, jego historię i podział na poszczególne dialekty. Część teoretyczna opisuje najważniejsze wydarzenia historyczne wpływające na rozwój języka, podaje informacje o aktualnej sytuacji prawnej i społecznej oksytańskiego we Francji oraz wprowadza pojęcie „francitan”, czyli interlektu, wynikającego z kontaktów między francuskim i oksytańskim. W drugiej części znajduje się analiza struktur języka oksytańskiego, na przykładzie dialektu langwedockiego, uznawanego za najbardziej uniwersalny. Praca zawiera też przykłady zdań w francitan wraz z tłumaczeniami na język francuski standardowy i opisami struktur, noszących ślady wpływu języka oksytańskiego.

The subject of this study is the contemporary situation of the Occitan language, treated as a set of dialects of southern France. The first part introduces and discusses some of the most important concepts related to the study of regional languages. It also presents more specifically Occitan, its history, and a subdivision into specific dialects. The theoretical part provides information on the current legal and social situation of Occitan in France and introduces the concept of “Francitan”, an interlect resulting from contacts between French and Occitan. The second part contains an analysis of the structure of the Occitan language, using the example of the Languedoc dialect, considered the most universal. The work includes examples of sentences in Francitan with translations into standard French and descriptions of structures that bear the mark of an influence of the Occitan language.

Le sujet du présent mémoire de licence est la situation contemporaine de la langue occitane, traitée comme un ensemble de dialectes du sud de la France. La première partie introduit et discute certains des concepts les plus importants liés à l’étude des langues régionales. Elle présente aussi plus spécifiquement l’occitan, son histoire et une subdivision en dialectes spécifiques. La partie théorique fournit également des informations sur la situation juridique et culturelle de l’occitan en France, elle introduit le concept de « francitan », un interlecte qui naît des contacts entre le français et l’occitan. La deuxième partie du mémoire propose une analyse de la structure de la langue occitane, à partir de l’exemple du dialecte languedocien, considéré comme le plus universel. Le mémoire contient aussi des exemples de phrases en francitan avec des traductions en français standard et des descriptions de structures qui portent la marque d’une influence de la langue occitane.
