Feminism in Saudi Arabia.

Na początku niniejszej pracy jest przedstawione pojęcie feminizmu na tle historycznym. Celem jest ukazanie zjawiska feminizmu w świecie arabskim, a konkretniej w Arabii Saudyjskiej, gdzie kobiety żyją według nakazanych im zasad. W pracy zostały również omówione główne aktywistki i ich działania na rzecz kobiet. W ostatniej części zostały przeanalizowane i opisane zmiany na przestrzeni ostatnich lat prowadzące do umocnienia pozycji kobiet oraz zwiększenia praw w Arabii Saudyjskiej.

The aim of this thesis is to demonstrate the phenomenon of feminism in the Arabic world, particularly in the Saudi Arabia, a country where women have to subordinate to the social and cultural norms. In the beginning of this thesis the concept of feminism and its historical background are presented. Subsequently some principal activists and their actions for women’s rights are discussed. Finally the changes in the course of the recent years that have led to strengthening women’s position and increasing their rights in the Saudi Arabia are presented and analyzed.
