Niniejsza praca magisterska analizuje rolę doktryny Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) w zapewnieniu stabilności strategicznej między Stanami Zjednoczonymi a Związkiem Radzieckim w trakcie zimnej wojny. Celem badawczym pracy jest zrozumienie, w jaki sposób doktryna MAD wpłynęła na dynamikę relacji między dwoma mocarstwami i jak przyczyniła się do uniknięcia bezpośredniego konfliktu nuklearnego poprzez stworzenie równowagi sił i odstraszającego potencjału, co skutkowało rozwojem dyplomacji oraz podjęciem międzynarodowych działań na rzecz kontroli zbrojeń nuklearnych.

This master's thesis examines the role of the Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD) doctrine in ensuring strategic stability between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The thesis' research objective is to understand how the MAD doctrine affected the dynamics of the relationship between the two superpowers and how it contributed to avoiding a direct nuclear conflict by creating a balance of power and deterrent capability, resulting in the development of diplomacy and international nuclear arms control efforts.
