Messianic Jews in Israel

W swojej pracy licencjackiej postaram się przybliżyć jeden z najbardziej kontrowersyjnych odłamów judaizmu- judaizm mesjanistyczny (יהדות משיחית jahdut meszichit). Obok przedstawienia głównych założeń teologicznych ruchu, nadrzędnym aspektem moich rozważań będą skomplikowane relacje pomiędzy mesjanistami (מאמיןים, maaminim) a wyznawcami judaizmu rabinicznego w Erec Israel.W pełnym zrozumieniu problemu istotne będzie przedstawienie kluczowych wydarzeń historycznych, mających znamienny wpływ na obecnie panujące stosunki pomiędzy ugrupowaniami. Ponadto skupię się na znaczących w mojej pracy aspektach izraelskiego prawa, takich jak ustanowione w 1950 roku Prawo Powrotu ( חוק השבות, Hok ha Szwut) i stosunku Państwa Izraela do wyznawców innych niż judaizm religii. Ukażę także codzienne życie żydów mesjanistycznych w Ziemi Obiecanej i ich zmagania z przeciwnymi im Izraelczykami. Dodatkowo opiszę działalność najważniejszych organizacji mesjanistycznych zajmujących się wspieraniem żyjących w Izraelu maaminim i charytatywną pomocą dla najbardziej potrzebujących mieszkańców tego państwa. Celem mojej pracy jest ukazanie relacji judaizm mesjanistyczny- Izrael z dwóch punktów widzenia: mesjanistów i żydowskiego społeczeństwa Erec Israel. W swoich rozważaniach przedstawię zasadnicze różnice podejściu obu stron do zaistniałego problemu i do wzajemnych stosunków. Podsumowując pracę postaram się przewidzieć dalszy rozwój tych niełatwych relacji i ocenić szanse na ich poprawę.

In my thesis I will try to discuss one of the most controversial groups in Judsaism - Messianic Judaism. Along with presenting crucial teological objectives of this movement, the main concern of my analysis will focus on a complicated relationship between Messianic believers (maaminim) and the followers of the Rabinic Judaism in Eretz Israel. To fully understand the issue I needed to base my research on key historical events which had a significant influence on the current relations between those groups. In addition, in my thesis I will concentrate on important aspects of Isreali law, such as those introduced in the 1950s, e.g. Law of Return (Hok ha Shwut). I will also present the attitude of the State of Israel towards the followers of other religions. Furthermore, I will show everyday life of Messianic Jews in the Promised Land and their struggle with those Isrealis who are against them. I will describe activities of the major messianic organizations supporting the believers and their charitable assistance to the most needy people of Isreal.The aim of my work is to show the difficult contacts between Messianic Judaism and Israel from both perspectives. My purpose is to present fundamental differences between various approaches to the problem and the mutual relations the beforementioned groups. Summing up, I will try to predict further development of those uneasy relations and try to estimate chances for their improvement.
