The Patriarchal Model of the Family in the Fifth Generation Director's Movies- Zhang Yimou.

Niniejsza praca traktuje o wpływie kultury, historii i tradycji konfucjańskiej na filmy reżysera Piątej Generacji Zhanga Yimou. Teza, która została przyjęta w owej pracy stanowi, iż przedstawiciel Piątego Pokolenia w swoich filmach prezentuje tradycyjny, patriarchalny model rodziny. Temat ten stał się inspiracją dla reżysera, jego filmy odzwierciedlają losy chińskiej rodziny, a zwłaszcza losy kobiet. Praca skupia się na analizie trzech filmów Zhanga Yimou.: Czerwone sorgo, Judo oraz Zawieście czerwone latarnie.Praca została podzielona na trzy rozdziały. Pierwszy z nich wyjaśnia rolę patriarchatu w tradycyjnym ujęciu rodziny na tle społeczeństwa chińskiego. Drugi rozdział poświęcony został historii i rozwojowi kina reżyserów Piątego Pokolenia. Trzeci, ostatni rozdział, stanowi analizęi uwidocznienie wątków patriarchalnych w filmach Zhanga Yimou.

This work treats about the influence of culture, history and the Confucian tradition on the Fifth Generation Director's movies-Zhang Yimou.The thesis which was adopted in this work is that Zhang Yimou in his movies presents a traditional patriarchal family model This theme was the inspiration for the director, his films reflect the fate of the Chinese family, and aspecialy the fate of women. This work focuses on the analysis of three films .Red Sorghum, Judou and Raise the Red LanternsThis paper is divided into three chapters. The first one explains the role of patriarchy in traditional family background. The second chapter is devoted to the Chinese history and development of the Fifth Generation directors. The fird, the final chapter, exposes patriarchal motifs in Zhang Yimou's movies.
