Saficka Autobiografikcja: Powieści Virginii Woolf, VIty Sackville-West i Violet Trefusis

Niniejsza praca łączy pojęcia autobiografikcji i queerowej autobiografii, aby zaprezentować nowy sposób analizy (tytułową “saficką autobiografikcję”), który jest następnie użyty do zbadania trzech modernistycznych powieści: Orlando Virginii Woolf, Challenge Vity Sackville-West oraz Broderie Anglaise Violet Trefusis, a także intertekstualnych połączeń między tymi powieściami. Pierwszy rozdział opisuje tło teoretyczne: koncepcję autobiografikcji wypracowaną przez Stephena Reynoldsa oraz Marka Saundersa, a także koncept queerowej autobiografii wypracowany przez Georgię Johnston. Drugi rozdział przedstawia zarys biografii trzech pisarek i omawia łączące je relacje. Ostatni rozdział jest dogłębną analizą przedstawionych powieści w odniesieniu do wcześniej przedstawionej teorii oraz biografii.

The thesis combines the notions of autobiografiction and queer autobiography in order to present a new mode of analysis (the titular “sapphic autobiografiction”). It then utilises it to closely examine three modernist novels: Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, Vita Sackville-West’s Challenge, and Violet Trefusis’ Broderie Anglaise, and their intertextual network of connections. The first chapter provides theoretical background on Stephen Reynolds’ and Mark Saunders’ concept of autobiografiction, and Georgia Johnston’s concept of queer autobiography. The second chapter describes biographical backgrounds of the three writers and explains the relationships between them. The last chapter is an in-depth analysis of the three novels, with reference to the theoretical and biographical backgrounds.
