Influence of drugs and drug abuse on skin health condition

Skóra jest narządem, który obrazuje zmiany zachodzące wewnątrz organizmu. Obserwując jej powierzchnię można stosunkowo szybko wychwycić patologie i zachowania ryzykowne na jakie narażony jest organizm. Zmiany w obrazie skóry mogą być tak różnorodne jak różnorodne są substancje uzależniające. Przeprowadzono wiele badań dotyczących negatywnych skutków zażywania zarówno narkotyków jak i używek, jednak tylko nieznaczna ich część dotyczy wpływu tych substancji na skórę. Zmiany pojawiające się w obrazie dermatologicznym osoby uzależnionej różnią się w zależności od rodzaju substancji i drogi podania. Największe ryzyko powstania trwałych zmian skórnych niosą za sobą substancje podawane drogą iniekcji. Wynika to z działania samego narkotyku jak i przerwania ciągłości skóry. Zdecydowanie najniebezpieczniejsze zmiany skórne występują po przyjęciu dezomorfiny, która doprowadza do odrywania się tkanek. Wiele zmian powstaje z powodu zaburzenia krążenia w kapilarach skóry. Zaliczyć do nich można między innymi perforację przegrody nosowej, zapalenie naczyń czy teleangiektazje. W zależności od zastosowanej substancji często tworzą się również przebarwienia o różnorodnej etiologii. Obniżenie poziomu odporności predysponuje do infekcji wirusowych, bakteryjnych, grzybiczych oraz pasożytniczych. Wszystkie opisane substancje wpływają na przyspieszenie procesu starzenia, obniżenie nawilżenia i niedostateczne odżywienie skóry. Znajomość zmian skórnych pojawiających się pod wpływem stosowania narkotyków czy też używek, pozwala na szybką reakcję, co może przyspieszyć rozpoczęcie leczenia a tym samym niejednokrotnie uratować ludzkie życie.

The skin is an organ that reflects the changes occurring inside the body. Observation of the skin surface allows quick detection of some pathologies and risk behaviours encountered by the body. Changes in the skin image may vary depending on a variety of effects produced by addictive substances. There have been conducted many studies concerning negative effects of using abused drugs, however, only a small part of them relates to the effects of these substances on the skin. This work collects information about the effects of selected abused drugs on the skin diseases and conditions. The changes occurring in the dermatological image of an addict vary depending on the type of substance and the way of its application. The greatest risk of permanent skin changes involves substances administered by injections. The reason of it seems to be the influence of the drug itself as well as a break in the skin. The most dangerous skin lesions occur after desomorphine, which creates the detachment of the tissue. Other substances evoke circulatory disorders in the capillaries of the skin, perforation of the nasal septum, vasculitis or telangiectasia. Depending on the substance used, skin discolorations of various etiology may also appear. Another problem is lowering the level of immunity predisposes to viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections. All of the substances described affect the acceleration of the aging processes, let to reduction of moisture or insufficient nourishment. Knowledge of skin lesions appearing under the influence of drugs or drugs of abuse allows quick diagnosis what can speed up the beginning of treatment and thus often save lives.
