Sarangi and cello - a comparison of two musical worlds

Instruments have played, and continue to play, a very important role in society, lending beauty and often solemnity to any given celebration. The work consists of three chapters. Mythology and the stories passed down from generation to generation in which the sarangi appears created the image of this instrument and gave it symbolic meanings. In Europe, finding any legends about the origins of the cello was difficult. There were simply real situations in which luthiers created instruments, in this case cellos. This is all because European culture is very different from that of India. Culture interacts incredibly with music and vice versa. This paper aims to demonstrate the differences and similarities of the sarangi and the cello. The text includes information on the construction of the two instruments, their origins and how they have functioned in society over the centuries.
