Search engines in the copyright

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza działalności wyszukiwarek internetowych na gruncie prawa autorskiego. Głównymi problemami rozważanymi w pracy są: zwielokrotnianie utworów w procesie pobierania treści ze stron internetowych, problematyka wyświetlania wyników wyszukiwania w postaci tzw. snippets oraz thumbnails, a także zamieszczanie odesłań do treści dostępnych w Internecie. Ze względu na kluczową rolę wyszukiwarek internetowych w prawidłowym funkcjonowaniu sieci World Wide Web, autorka w końcowej części pracy podejmuje próbę znalezienia optymalnego rozwiązania w kontekście ukształtowania przepisów prawnych dotyczących systemów wyszukiwawczych.

The main aim of the work is an analysis of Internet search engines activity in the view of copyright regulations. The main issues discussed in my MA thesis concern the matter of works reproduction in a process of copying content from websites, the issue of displaying search results in the form of so-called snippets and thumbnails, and providing hyperlinks to the content available on the web. Due to the key role of Internet search engines in the proper functioning of the World Wide Web, the author, in the final part of the paper, tries to find the optimal solution as far as formation of new law regulations on search tools goes.
