Ebola disease outbreak: development, treatment, findings and recommendations.

Celem pracy było przeprowadzenie przeglądu literatury ukazującego jakie metody zostały użyte w zwalczaniu epidemii, jak zapobiegano chorobie, ukazanie efektywności oraz jakie zalecenia zostały wydane w trakcie i po zwalczeniu epidemii w 2015 roku w Afryce. Korzystając z bazy PubMed przeglądem objęto 8 artykułów w czterech kategoriach wyszukiwania: leczenie, skuteczność, zalecenia i zapobieganie. Analiza obejmowała anglojęzyczne publikacje w latach 2013-2016. Posiłkowano się również materiałami z oficjalnych storn internetowych Światowej Organizacji Zdrowia (WHO) i Centrum Kontroli i Prewencji Chorób (CDC). Oficjalnie zwalczona w marcu 2016 r. epidemia stanowiła zagrożenie dla międzynarodowego zdrowia publicznego przez ponad 2 lata. Osiągnięto wielki sukces hamując ekspansję wirusa poza granice Afryki. Było to możliwe dzięki sprawnym działaniom Światowej Organizacji Zdrowia, Centrum Kontroli i Prewencji Chorób zrzeszającym służby medyczne do zwalczania wirusa na jego ojczystym kontynencie. To doświadczenie udowadnia, że istnieje wiele chorób, które ewoluują i mogą po raz kolejny zaatakować, ale również ukazuje błędy jakie popełniono, których można uniknąć w przyszłości, a także daje nadzieję na stworzenie nowego leku.

The aim of the study was to review the literature showing the methods used to combat the epidemic, how to prevent the disease, to show the effectiveness and what recommendations were issued during and after the outbreak in Africa in 2015. Using the PubMed database, the review covered 8 articles in four search categories: treatment, effectiveness, recommendations, and prevention. The analysis covered English-language publications from 2013 to 2016. Materials were also received from the official World Health Organisation and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention internet websites. Officially eradicated in March 2016, the epidemic has endangered international public health for more than two years. Great success has been achieved by hindering the spread of the virus outside of Africa. This was made possible by the effective efforts of the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which associates the medical services to fight the virus on its home continent. This experience proves that there are many diseases that evolve and may once again attack, but it also shows the mistakes that have been made that can be avoided in the future and also gives hope for the creation of a new medicine.
