Stepmother in traditional and retold fairy tales (on the example of "The Lunar Chronicles" by Marissa Meyer and "Howl's Moving Castle" by Diana W. Jones)

Praca poświęcona jest analizie konstrukcji macochy w baśniach tradycyjnych i przeobrażonych. W tym celu przeanalizowane zostały postaci pojawiające się w utworach Ch. Perraulta i J. i W. Grimmów oraz M. Meyer i D.W. Jones. Pierwszy rozdział zawiera analizę leksykologiczną 'macochy' oraz uwagi terminologiczne dotyczące retellingu. Kolejne trzy rozdziały poświęcone zostały analizie obrazu macoch w baśniach Perraulta i Grimmów, tetralogii Meyer i powieści Jones. W pracy wskazane zostały punkty wspólne oraz różnice w przedstawieniu bohaterek w baśniach tradycyjnych i współczesnych powieściach, także w kontekście techniki, którą jest retelling.

The work is dedicated to the study on the stepmother construction in traditional and retold fairy tales. For this purpose there were Ch. Perrault's, J. and W. Grimms', M. Meyer's and D.W. Jones' stories analysed, where such characters appear. The first chapter includes the lexicographic analysis of 'stepmother' and terminological notes concerning the idea of retelling. Next three segments contain the analysis of how stepmothers are portrayed in works by Perrault, Grimms, Meyer and Jones. The study indicates common points and differences between the personae presented the fairy tales, considering the retelling technique.
