The concept of Blitzkrieg – the introduction to modern warfare – XIX century till 20`s of XX th century

This work focuses on the origins of the Blitzkrieg concept. The aim of this study was to find foundations of this idea. Blitzkrieg was presented as a result of technical evolution and theoretical military thought. The first chapter covers the period from the end of the Napoleonic Wars to the outbreak of the First World War, with particular emphasis on German and French military. The second chapter describes the failure of the von Schlieffen Plan. Mainly it focuses on the phenomenon of trench warfare on the Western Front and the desperate attempts made ​​by both sides to restore the character of the maneuver war. The next chapter presents the views of the military theorists of the 20`s of XX th century, their visions of the armed forces and the nature of the future battlefield. The final chapter focuses on showing the condition of the German Army after the Treaty of Versailles on the background of the situation of their future opponents.

W pracy została podjęta problematyka powstawania koncepcji wojny błyskawicznej. Celem pracy było znalezienie podstaw wyklarowania się tej idei. Wojna błyskawiczna została przedstawiona jako wynik swego rodzaju ewolucji techniki i teoretycznej myśli wojskowej. Pierwszy rozdział obejmuje okres od zakończenia wojen napoleońskich do wybuchu Pierwszej Wojny Światowej, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wojskowości niemieckiej i francuskiej. Rozdział drugi opisuje niepowodzenie „Planu Schlieffena”, a następnie koncentruje się na zagadnieniu powstania zjawiska wojny pozycyjnej na froncie zachodnim i desperackich próbach czynionych przez obie strony, by przywrócić wojnie charakter manewrowy. Kolejny rozdział prezentuje poglądy teoretyków wojskowości lat dwudziestych, ich wizje rozwoju sił zbrojnych oraz charakter pola walki przyszłości. Ostatni rozdział koncentruje się na ukazaniu kondycji niemieckiej Armii po Traktacie Wersalskim na tle sytuacji ich przyszłych przeciwników.
