Polish men’s national volleyball team during the most important international events in the years 1949-2014

Tematem pracy jest prześledzenie historii występów polskiej reprezentacji męskiej w piłce siatkowej na najważniejszych imprezach międzynarodowych w latach 1949-2014 oraz ukazanie w jaki sposób zostały one przedstawione na łamach dwóch tytułów prasowych – Przeglądu Sportowego i Sportowca. Analiza została dokonana na podstawie artykułów pojawiających się we wskazanych periodykach. Praca ma na celu wprowadzenie czytelnika w tematykę poprzez zarysowanie tła historycznego problemu światowych oraz polskich dziejów siatkówki. Zasadniczą część pracy stanowią rozdziały poświęcone zagadnieniu przyjętemu w jej temacie, na które składa się przedstawienie siatkarskich wydarzeń oraz analiza artykułów je opisujących. Zostały one uporządkowane w sposób problemowo-chronologiczny, co pozwoliło na usystematyzowanie informacji pojawiających się na łamach gazet. Dodatkowo na pracę składa się aneks zawierający listę reprezentantów Polski oraz materiały ilustracyjne. Zagadnienie to jest nadal warte uwagi i głębszego zapoznania się z nim.

The aim of this thesis is to trace the history of Polish men’s national volleyball team’s performances during the most important international tournaments in the years 1949-2014. Furthermore, it also wants to show how this issue was portrayed in the pages of two the most important Polish newspapers – Sports Review and Sportsman. The analysis was made on the basis of the articles which appeared in these newspapers. This thesis wants to introduce the reader to the subject by outlining the historical background of the world and Polish history of volleyball. The essential part of the thesis are chapters devoted to the issue of Polish national team. These chapters consist of presentation of volleyball events and their analysis on the basis of Sports Review and Sportsman articles. The thesis was structured in a problem-chronological order which allowed to systematise information appearing in both newspapers. Additionally, this thesis consists of an appendix containing the list of Polish representatives and some illustrative materials. This issue is still worth attention and deeper getting to know.
