Zniekształcona miłość w dramacie 4.48 Psychosis Sary Kane

Celem pracy jest przedstawienie tematu zniekształconej miłości w ostatniej sztuce Sarah Kane 4.48 Psychoza. Omawia miłości w zniekształconej formie i ma na celu odkrycie i zidentyfikowanie zniekształceń, które prowadzą do deformacji miłości. Zamierza również zbadać dwie główne przyczyny, które prowadzą do zniekształceń miłości, jednocześnie koncentrując się na jej destrukcyjnym wpływie na jednostkę i rzeczywistość, w jakiej ona funkcjonuje. W parcy opieram się na dwóch wiodących teoriach. Pierwszą z nich jest filozofia szwajcarskiego myśliciela Byung Chul Hana, który wyróżnia zasadnicze warunki pozwalające na istnienie „prawdziwej miłości”. Inną istotną dla tej pracy teorią jest koncepcja zniekształconej miłości Emmy Engdhal. Rozdział pierwszy skupia się na krótkiej prezentacji różnych oblicz miłości w kulturze, drugi omawia patologie związane z miłością, a rozdział trzeci zawiera szczegółową analizę 4.48 Psychozy odczytanej w świetle koncepcji Hana i Endgal. Praca dowodzi znaczenia miłości w życiu jednostki i identyfikuje kapitalizm i depresję jako główne destrukcyjne wpływy odpowiedzialne za jej zniekształconą formę i jej niszczycielski wpływ na jednostkę.

The aim of the thesis is to present the topic of distorted love in Sarah Kane’s final play 4.48 Psychosis. It discusses love in its distorted form and aims to uncover and identify the distortions that lead to love deformation. It also intends to investigate two main causes that lead to distorted love while simultaneously focusing on its destructive effects on an individual and their reality. I have applied two leading theories to my thesis. The first one is the philosophical theory of a Swiss thinker Byung Chul Han which distinguishes fundamental conditions allowing the existence of “true love”. The other theory significant for this paper is the Emma Engdhal’s distorted love theory. The first chapter focuses on a brief presentation of different faces of love in culture, the second focuses on the pathologies connected with love and the third chapter contains a detailed analysis of 4.48 Psychosis read in the light of Han’s and Endgal’s concepts.This thesis proves the importance of love in an individual’s life and identifies capitalism and depression as the main destructive influences responsible for its distorted form and its devastating effect on the individual.
