Cult of Amun in Egipt in the period of the New Kingdom

This working paper presents development of the cult of Amun in Egipt as the most important god in the period of New Kingdom. It takes into account current state of researches about Egyptian religion and describes its features. The purpose of this working paper is to present all aspects of the cult and its impact on performance of the kingdom and especially its impact on the power of the kings. First sub chapter presents development of the cult of the god, its theological background, evolution of the god, meaning of his names and his images.Then this work describes place of the god's cult and its role in the kingdom, clergy and their hierarchy and its importance in god's cult. Then there are described celebrations related to the cult of this god and associated instytutions related cult. In the second part of this work there is information about impact of the cult on the politics. It describes also approach of the kings in the age of New Kingdom to the cult of Amun and information how they took care about this cult. By describing all aspect of the cult of Amun and its impact on the politics this working paper presents how strong the religion, power and structure of the society can meet.

Praca przedstawia rozwój kultu Amona w Egipcie jako najwyższego boga w okresie Nowego Państwa. Uwzględnia dotychczasowy stan badań nad religią egipską i określa jej cechy. Praca służy przedstawieniu wszystkich aspektów kultu tego boga oraz ich wpływu na funkcjonowanie państwa ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wpływu na władzę królewską. pierwszy podrozdział przedstawia rozwój kultu tego boga, jego teologiczne podstawy, ewolucję postaci bóstwa oraz znaczenie jego imion i wyobrażeń.Praca kolejno opisuje ośrodki kultowe i ich rolę w funkcjonowaniu państwa, następnie kler, jego hierarchię i znaczenie w obsłudze kultu. Następnie wymienione są święta odpowiednie dla kultu tego boga oraz towarzyszące im instytucje, w kontekście znaczenie dla ludu. W drugiej części pracy zawarte są informacje o wpływie Amona i jego kultu na politykę państwa. Praca opisuje również w jaki sposób władcy okresu Nowego Państwa odnosili się do kultu Amona oraz jak o niego dbali. Poprzez omówienie wszystkich aspektów kultu tego boga oraz ich wpływu na politykę pokazuje jak mocno religia może się przenikać z władzą i strukturą społeczną tworząc kompletny, chociaż nie zawsze zrozumiały obraz rzeczywistości.
