Juvenile detention centres for girl in Poland as an example of total institution

Praca poświęcona jest materii stosowania środka poprawczego wobec nieletnich dziewcząt w Polsce. Autorka przedstawia historię wyodrębniania się prawa nieletnich oraz modeli oddziaływania na nieletnich, a także aktualnego kształtu polskiego ustawodawstwa dotyczącego nieletnich, zestawiając go ze statystycznym opisem zjawiska przestępczości nieletnich w Polsce. Główna część pracy poświęcona jest zapoznaniu czytelnika z koncepcją instytucji totalnych przedstawioną przez E. Goffmana, opisie środka poprawczego w postaci umieszczenia w zakładzie poprawczym, a także na przedstawieniu funkcjonowania wybranego zakładu poprawczego dla dziewcząt w Polsce, a mianowicie Zakładu Poprawczego i Schroniska dla Nieletnich w Zawierciu. Celem pracy jest ocena instytucji prawnej, jaką stanowią zakłady poprawcze dla dziewcząt w Polsce w świetle założeń koncepcji instytucji totalnych .

This master's thesis is dedicated to the issue of applying the correctional measure to juvenile girls in Poland. The author shows the development of juvenile law and models of influencing on juvenile, as well as an actual form of polish legislation regarding juvenile, demonstrating the statistical data on the issue of juvenile crime in Poland. Main part of the thesis concerns the concept of the total institution by E. Goffman, the description of correctional measure in the form of putting into juvenile detention centre and the functioning of the chosen juvenile detention centre for girls in Poland namely Juvenile Detention Centre and Juvenile Centre in Zawiercie. The aim of the thesis is the evaluation of the legal institution, which is the juvenile detention centres for girls in Poland referring to the presumptions of the total institution concept.
