Existentialism in Ingmar Bergman’s film work

Przedmiotem pracy jest zilustrowanie wybranych koncepcji filozofii egzystencjalnej Sørena Kierkegaarda i Jeana-Paula Sartre’a za pomocą filmów Ingmara Bergmana oraz wskazanie możliwości interpretacji dzieł reżysera pod kątem wymienionej filozofii.W pierwszym rozdziale, w trzech częściach, zaprezentowano sylwetkę oraz dorobek Ingmara Bergmana, najwybitniejszego szwedzkiego reżysera. Omówione zostały cechy twórczości artysty oraz jego znaczenie dla kinematografii. Kolejny rozdział, w pierwszej części, zawiera omówienie historii filozofii egzystencjalnej oraz jej najważniejsze założenia. W drugiej części pokazano sylwetkę i wybrane poglądy Sørena Kierkegaarda dotyczące wiary oraz stadiów życia ludzkiego. Ostatnia część jest przedstawieniem postaci Jeana-Paula Sartre’a oraz jego refleksji na temat istoty bytu i relacji między ludźmi.Ostatni rozdział jest zestawieniem poglądów wyżej wymienionych myślicieli z dziełami Ingmara Bergmana. Refleksje filozofów egzystencjalnych zostały zilustrowane za pomocą wybranych postaci oraz scen z dzieł reżysera.

Subject of labour is to illustrate selected concepts of Søren Kierkegaard’s and Jean-Paul Sartre’s existential philosophy by means of Ingmar Bergman’s films and to point possibilities of interpretation director’s work through the prism of mentioned philosophy. The first chapter (three parts) is a presentation of Ingmar Bergman's profile and achievements of the most remarkable Swedish director. There were elaborated features of artist's work and its meaning to cinematography. Next chapter (first part) contains discussion about history of existential philosophy and its the most important assumptions. In the second part was presented Søren Kierkegaard’s profile and selected opinions about faith and stages of human life. The last part is an exposition of Jean – Paul Sartre's profile and his reflections about essence of being and relations between people. The last chapter is juxtaposition of above-mentioned philosopher's views with Ingmar Bergman's works. Reflections of existential philosophers was illustrated by means of selected characters and scenes from director's works.
