Euopean volunteer in Poland - his identity and attitude toward Polish

Praca podejmuje tematykę tożsamości oraz kompetencji językowych. Jej celem jest ukazanie obrazu europejskiego wolontariusza realizującego program European Voluntary Service w Krakowie. Praca składa się z dwóch głównych części – teoretycznej i badawczej. W pierwszej autorka dokonuje przeglądu literatury na temat tożsamości w kontekście ponowoczesności, języka w kontekście wielojęzyczności i różnojęzyczności, migracji w kontekście transnarodowości, mobilności w Unii Europejskiej w kontekście strategii podejmowanych przez Wspólnotę, takich jak Erasmus+, Polski jako unijnego kraju imigracji w kontekście prowadzonej przez niego polityki migracyjnej i językowej oraz Krakowa jako miasta o transnarodowym potencjale. Druga część pracy to analiza ankiet przeprowadzonych w grupie dziewiętnastu wolontariuszy uczestniczących w projekcie EVS od października 2016 roku do czerwca 2017 roku.

The work deals with the subject of identity and language competences. Its aim is to show the image of a European Volunteer doing the European Voluntary Service in Krakow. The work consists of two main parts - theoretical and research. In the first author reviews literature on identity in the context of postmodernity, language in the context of multilingualism and plurilingualism, migration in the context of transnationality, mobility in the European Union in the context of strategies undertaken by the Community, such as Erasmus +, Poland as an EU immigration country in the context of its migration and language policy and Krakow as a city with transnational potential. The second part of the study is the analysis of surveys conducted in the group of nineteen volunteers participating in the EVS project from October 2016 to June 2017.
