Humor w przekładzie: Bariery kulturowe i językowe w polskim tłumaczeniu lektorskim serialu Top Gear

Przedmiotem niniejszej pracy jest polski przekład lektorski angielskiego programu motoryzacyjnego Top Gear. Praca przedstawia analizę nacechowanego kulturowo humoru występującego w programie, strategie przyjęte w polskim tłumaczeniu lektorskim oraz różnorodne problemy związane z tłumaczeniem. Ponadto omówiony zostaje potencjalny wpływ, jaki tłumaczenie mogło wywrzeć na polską widownię. Pierwszy rozdział ukazuje historię programu aż po zmianę formatu oraz kontrowersje, które wywołał. Drugi rozdział krótko przedstawia temat przekładu audiowizualnego, rodzaje humoru występujące w programie oraz strategie tłumaczeniowe. Ostatnia cześć ukazuje analizę polskiego tłumaczenia na konkretnych przykładach. Każdy z przykładów osadzony zostaje w szerszym kontekście, by umożliwić lepsze zrozumienie trudności związanych z tłumaczeniem i zastosowanych strategii.

The thesis explores the Polish voice-over translation of the British automotive programme Top Gear, culture-specific humour which appears throughout the show and different translation strategies used in the Polish edition, as well as various difficulties which the translating team has stumbled upon. Moreover, the paper discusses the possible effect which the translation might have had on the Polish audience. The first chapter presents a short overview of Top Gear’s history, and the most important controversies it has caused. The second chapter briefly discusses types of humour used in the show, audiovisual translation and translation strategies. The last chapter is a case study of selected excerpts from the show illustrating various aspects of humour translation. Every example is put into context to help the reader understand the challenges connected with the translation as well as strategies used in the process.
