Problems with ageing among people in a selected regions in Poland

Starzenie się społeczeństwa to proces demograficzny występujący w krajach wysokorozwiniętych i Europy. Zjawisko to związane jest ze zmianami w strukturze wieku ludności występującej na danym terytorium. Bezpośrednim skutkiem starzenia się jest zwiększanie liczebności i udziału ludzi starych, przy jednoczesnym zmniejszaniu się roczników młodych. Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie wybranych problemów związanych ze starzeniem się ludności na przykładzie czterech województw: małopolskiego, lubelskiego, dolnośląskiego i zachodniopomorskiego. Ryciny i tabele opracowano w oparciu o dane pochodzące z Głównego Urzędu Statystycznego. Podczas analizy danych stwierdzono, że województwem stosunkowo starym jest województwo lubelskie i dolnośląskie. Bezpośrednią przyczyną tej sytuacji jest mała ilość miejsc pracy i migracje. Natomiast do województw młodych możemy zaliczyć województwo dolnośląskie i zachodniopomorskie. Związane jest to przede wszystkim z dostępnością miejsc pracy, atrakcyjnymi terenami i różnorodnością uczelni wyższych. Obszar Polski jest terenem, na którym obserwujemy w ostatnich latach sukcesywne zwiększanie liczby ludzi powyżej 80 roku życia tzw. podwójne starzenie. W grupie poprodukcyjnej widocznym zjawiskiem jest nadumieralność mężczyzn i przewaga liczebna kobiet dożywająca do sędziwych lat. Prognozy GUS oparte na dotychczasowych obserwacjach przewidują niekorzystne tendencje demograficzne na przestrzeni najbliższych dziesiątek lat. Obszarem o najsilniejszym spadku ludności będzie teren województwa opolskiego i śląskiego. Natomiast województwem, w którym zmiana ludności będzie niewielka jest województwo małopolskie.

The ageing of society is a demographic process occurring in highly developed countries and in Europe.This phenomenon is connected with changes in the structure of age of the people living on a given territory. The increasing number of elderly people and simultaneous diminishing number of young people is a direct result of ageing. The aim of this thesis is to present selected problems connected with the process of ageing on the examples of four provinces: małopolskie, lubelskie, dolnośląskie and zachodniopomorskie.The figures and tables are formulated on the basis of data from the Central Statistical Office. During the analysis of data it has been shown that the oldest provinces, regarding the people living there, are the provinces lubelskie and dolnośląskie. The direct cause of this situation is the fact that there is not enough workplace and there is high migration. However provinces małopolskie and zachodniopomorskie can be counted to young ones. This is connected with the fact that there are a lof of workplace available, the territory is very attractive and there is a wide range of universities to choose from. Poland is a country where it can be observed that the number of people who are above 80 years old is gradually increasing (so called double-ageing). A very visible phenonenon in the group of post-working people is excess mortality of men and prevalence of women that live longer.Forecast of the Central Statistical Office based on present observations foresees adverse demographical tendencies in the future.It is foreseen that opolskie and śląskie province will be the terrain where the number of people will decrease. However, the province where the changed in population will be minor is małopolska.
