The power and the feelings in the works of Vittorio Alfieri.

Tytuł mojej pracy to Władza i uczucia w utworach Vittoria Alfieriego. Celem pracy jest scharakteryzowanie różnych aspektów władzy i uczuć na podstawie jego czterech tragedii (Polinik, Antygona, Agamemnon, Orestes) i zanalizowanie, na czym polega wzajemne oddziaływanie tych dwóch sił, a także ich wpływ na jednostkę.Pierwszy rozdział poświęcony jest ogólnej charakterystyce tyranii jako ustroju, na podstawie traktatu Alfieriego zatytułowanego O tyranii (Della tirannide), a także analizie różnych postaw władcy ukazanych w tragediach Polinik (Polinice) i Agamemnon (Agamennone). Ponadto zostaje przedstawione zachowanie bohaterów w obliczu utraty władzy i skutki wynikające z traktowania jej jako wartości najwyższej.Drugi rozdział pokazuje różne funkcje uczuć w utworach Alfieriego, a przede wszystkim w jaki sposób mogą one przyczynić się do umocnienia władzy lub spowodować jej obalenie. W drugiej części tego rozdziału zostaje zanalizowane uczucie zemsty Orestesa, które jest w stanie zakończyć tyrańskie rządy, ale jednocześnie przyczynia się do jego upadku.Tematem ostatniego rozdziału są postacie kobiet. Pierwszą część stanowi charakterystyka ich stosunku wobec władzy. Następnie zostają poddane analizie uczucia matki w analizowanych tragediach i ich wpływ na postępowanie innych postaci. Jednym z zagadnień jest również analiza porównawcza dwóch różnych wizerunków matek. Ostatnią kwestią poruszoną w tym rozdziale jest przedstawienie wpływu uczuć bohaterów tragedii Antygona (Antigone) na ich postawy i heroiczne zachowania.

The title of my thesis is Power and feelings in the works of Vittorio Alfieri. The mean of the masters is to describe the different aspects of power and feelings based on his four tragedies and also to analyse how these two forces influence on each other and also their impact on an individual. The first chapter is dedicated to a general characteristics of tyranny as a political system, on the base of Alfieri's treaty The Tyranny and to an analysis of different attitudes of the ruler shown in tragedies: Polinice and Agamennone. Moreover, it is shown the behaviour of the characters in the face of loosing power and the consequences of treating it as the highest value. The second chapter shows different roles of feelings in Alfieris's tragedies, but most of all how they can contribute to strengthening the power or to its' overthrow. In the second part of this chapter there is an analysis of the feeling of Orestes' revenge, which is able to end the rules of tyranny, but at the same time it can lead to his own downfall. The subject of the last chapter are the figures of women. The first part is a characteristics of their attitude towards power. Then, there are shown the feelings of a mother in the above mentioned tragedies and their impact on other characters' behaviour. One of the issues is also a comparative analysis of different images of a mother. The last matter brought up in this chapter is a description of the influence of the feelings of characters in Antigone on their attitude and heroic behaviour.

L’obiettivo della tesi è la rappresentazione dei diversi aspetti del potere e degli affetti mostrati attraverso vari comportamenti dei personaggi alfieriani, e l’analisi dell’influenza reciproca di queste due forze, l’importanza e le conseguenze della loro presenza sulla vita dell’individuo. Sono state scelte quattro tragedie di Vittorio Alfieri: Polinice, Antigone, Agamennone e Oreste.Il primo capitolo è dedicato interamente alla caratteristica generale del potere da parte di Alfieri (l’obiettivo di questa parte teoretica è il trattato intitolato Della tirannide) e al modo di regnare dei personaggi. Inoltre il capitolo illustra l’atteggiamento dei protagonisti minacciati dalla perdita del potere e anche gli effetti che risultano dal trattamento del potere come valore supremo.Gli affetti sono l’obiettivo del secondo capitolo, particolarmente si analizzano le diverse funzioni che gli affetti svolgono nelle opere, tra cui l’argomento di come essi sono usati al servizio del potere, ma anche come la parte affettiva può dominare il modo di agire del personaggio e contribuire a distruggere il potere. La seconda parte del capitolo è dedicata alla vendetta che è in grado di rovesciare la tirannide, ma allo stesso tempo può rovinare lo stesso personaggio. Il terzo capitolo riguarda interamente le donne. Nella prima parte si caratterizza il loro atteggiamento nei confronti del potere. Inoltre viene individuata la figura della madre per quanto riguarda i sentimenti che la dominano e gli effetti del suo agire sugli altri personaggi. L’ultima parte riguarderà un aspetto eroico, e in particolare, in quale rapporto esso rimane con i sentimenti.
