Catalonia: between autonomy and independence

Niniejsza praca składa się z pięciu rozdziałów. Jej celem jest scharakteryzowanie dążeń separatystycznych części Katalończyków. W pierwszym rozdziale zostaną przeanalizowane koncepcje teoretyczne, takie jak: „separatyzm”, „tożsamość narodowa” oraz „konflikt etniczny”. Autorka podaje także powody wyboru tematu oraz pytania, jakie zostały zawarte w pracy. Drugi rozdział przedstawia zarys wspólnej historii Hiszpanii i Katalonii. Wskazane wydarzenia historyczne pokazują współistnienie tendencji autonomicznych oraz zjednoczeniowych, które odcisnęły piętno na obecnym charakterze państwa. W trzecim rozdziale autorka przedstawia wydarzenia, które miały miejsce w Katalonii, począwszy od referendum, skończywszy na wyborach do rządu regionalnego. W kolejnym rozdziale zostały opisane argumenty zwolenników secesji oraz rządu centralnego.

This work consists of five chapters. The aim of the work is to characterize the aspirations of some Catalan separatists. Theoretical issue like ‘separatism’, ‘national identity’ and ‘ethnic conflict’ are analysed at the first chapter. The author also gives the reasons for choosing such topic, and questions that were included in the work. The second chapter provides informations about common history of Spain and Catalonia. The indicated historical events show the coexistence of autonomous and unification tendencies that have left their mark on the current character of the state. In the third chapter, the author presents the events that took place in Catalonia, starting with the referendum, ending with the elections to the regional government. The last section of this work describes the arguments of the supporters of secession and the central government.
