Aesthetics in Kabuki Theatre.

Praca odnosi się do japońskich sztuk widowiskowych, ze szczególnym wskazaniem na teatr kabuki. Przedmiotem pracy jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie o to, czy zachodni odbiorca może zrozumieć pojawiającą się w nim symbolikę. We pierwszym rozdziale, autor dokonuje streszczenia historii japońskiej sztuki i cech dystynktywnych jej estetyki. Analizuje także historię japońskich sztuk widowiskowych. W rozdziale drugim opisuje historię i estetykę teatru kabuki, a także opisuje najważniejsze zagadnienia związane z budynkiem teatru, aktorem i tematyką dramatów. W rozdziale trzecim autor skupia się na recepcji teatru kabuki przez zachodniego odbiorcę próbując odpowiedzieć na problem badawczy.

The subject of this paper is is japanese performing arts, with particular reference to kabuki theatre. Also, is an attempt to answer the question, whether the western viewer is capable of understanding its symbolism. In the first chapter, author summarises the history of japanese art and distinctive features of its aesthetics, as well as analyses the history of japanese peforming arts. The second chapter focuses on history and aesthetics of kabuki theatre and the main issues connected to the theatre building, actors and topics of dramas. In the third chapter author examines the reception of kabuki theatre by the western viewer and is trying to explain the issues of the research.
