„Współczesne adaptacje Romea i Julii Szekspira” to temat poniższej pracy dyplomowej. Prezentuje ona wynik dogłębnej analizy dwóch adaptacji filmowych dzieła Williama Szekspira stworzonych przez reżyserów Franco Zeffirelliego oraz Baza Luhrmanna. Praca opisuje transformacje dokonane przez dyrektorów i ich osiągnięcia kulturalne jak również analizuje cele, do których mogli dążyć. Niezwykle ważnym elementem tej pracy jest odbiór wspomnianych adaptacji przez krytyków filmowych i ich opinie na temat adaptacji. Praca analizuje język używany w dialogach, a także muzykę i scenografię, co jest bardzo ważnym elementem każdego filmu. Cały proces pisania tej pracy opierał się na zgromadzonych materiałach, wśród których największą inspiracją, oprócz adaptacji filmowych Franco Zeffirelli i Baza Luhrmanna, była między innymi książka ”Teoria adaptacji” autorstwa Lindy Hutcheon. Inne prace literackie, takie jak artykuły i recenzje, zostały również wykorzystane do dokładnej analizy.

The thesis "Modern adaptations of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet" presents the result of an in-depth analysis of two film adaptations of the famous work of William Shakespeare, created by directors Franco Zeffirelli and Baz Luhrmann.The work describes the transformations made by directors and their cultural achievements as well as analyzes the goals they could have pursued. An extremely important element of this work is the reception of the above-mentioned adaptations by film critics and their opinions on the adaptation. The work analyzes the language used in the dialogues as well as music and stage design, which is a very important element of every film. The entire process of writing this work was based on acquired materials, among which the greatest inspiration, in addition to the film adaptations of Franco Zeffirelli and Baz Luhrmann was among others, the book “Theory of Adaptation” by Linda Hutcheon. Other literary works, such as articles and reviews, have also been used for thorough analysis.
