Use of molecular studies in modern plant protection: the case of Doronicum austriacum

Doronicum austriacum, subalpejski gatunek środkowoeuropejski, jest gatunkiem charakterystycznym dla związku Adenostylion aliariae. Jego zasięg w Europie obejmuje góry od Pirenejów po Karpaty i góry Półwyspu Bałkańskiego. W Polsce występuje pospolicie w Karpatach, rzadko w Sudetach, posiada również kilka stanowisk niżowych. Celem niniejszej pracy było zbadanie zróżnicowania genetycznego populacji Doronicum austriacum z różnych części zasięgu, określenie wpływu izolacji przestrzennej na zmienność genetyczną oraz wyznaczenie populacji ważnych dla zachowania różnorodności genetycznej gatunku. Badania wykonane zostały przy użyciu techniki AFLP. Wyniki wykazały podział populacji Doronicum austriacum na trzy linie genetyczne oraz niską zmienność genetyczną populacji izolowanych.

Doronicum austriacum, a subalpine Central-European species, is a species characteristic of Adenostylion aliariae alliance. This species occurs in european mountains from Pyrenees to the Carpathians and Balkan Penisula. In Poland it is common in the Carpathians, rarely in the Sudetes, and also has several lowland populations. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the genetic diversity of the Doronicum austraicum populations from different parts of the range, to determine the impact of isolation of populations on genetic variability and to identify populations important for genetic diversity of the species. The research was done using the AFLP technique. The results show that the Doronicum austriacum populations are divided into three genetic lines. The results also shows the low genetic variability of the isolated populations.
