Use of Bitcoin currency in cybercrime

Abstrakt W pracy pod tytułem Wykorzystanie waluty Bitcoin w cyberprzestępczości omówiono temat występowania nowego rodzaju przestępczości, która dokonywana jest przy wykorzystaniu sieci Internet. Poruszone zostało także zjawisko wykorzystywania nietradycyjnych środków płatniczych jakim są waluty wirtualne ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem cyberwaluty Bitcoin. Autorka pochyliła się także nad negatywnymi skutkami wyżej wymienionych zjawisk, mających odbicie w sferze społecznej, państwowej, a także globalnej.W oparciu o przedstawione w pracy rozważania, potwierdzona została teza, iż wirtualne waluty są wykorzystywane większości przez świat przestępczy. Skutki tego precedensu nie są możliwe do całkowitego wyeliminowania. Natomiast ich obecna skala nie stanowi zagrożenia dla funkcjonowania państw i banków centralnych ze względu na brak usamodzielnienia się waluty Bitcoin.

AbstractThe study entitled Use of Bitcoin currency in cybercrime discusses the occurrence of a new type of crime, which is committed using the Internet. The study also describes the phenomenon of using non-traditional means of payment, which are virtual currency, with particular emphasis on the Bitcoin. The author also described the negative effects of the above-mentioned phenomena, which has a reflection in the social, national, and global sphere.Based on the considerations presented in the work, it has been confirmed by the thesis that virtual currencies are used mostly by the criminal world. The consequences of this precedent are not possible to be completely eliminated. Notwithstanding their current scale is not a threat to the functioning of states and central banks because of the lack of independence of the Bitcoin currency.
