Political and philosophical approach to totalitarianism. Carl J. Friedrich, Zbigniew Brzeziński, Hannah Arendt

W niniejszej pracy przedstawione zostały dwie teorie dotyczące totalitaryzmu. Z jednej strony koncepcja politologiczna opisana przez Carla J. Friedricha oraz Zbigniewa Brzezińskiego, skupiająca się głownie na charakterystyce reżimy totalitarnego, oraz jego kluczowych elementach. Z drugiej zaś, teoria filozoficzna przedstawiona przez Hannę Arendt, w której filozofka próbuje wyjaśnić fenomen totalitaryzmu przedstawiając jego genezę i jego istotne cechy. Przedstawienie dwóch powyższych poglądów zostało dokonane głównie w oparciu o „Dyktaturę totalitarną i autokracje”, autorstwa wyżej wymienionych politologów oraz „Korzenie totalitaryzmu” napisanych przez Arendt, a także inne liczne publikacje dotyczące totalitaryzmu. Oprócz tego porównano obie koncepcje oraz przedstawiono zdanie autora niniejszej pracy na ich temat.

This work presents two theories about totalitarianism. On the one hand, the political concept described by Carl J. Friedrich and Zbigniew Brzezinski, focusing mainly on the characteristics of totalitarian regimes and its key elements. On the other hand, the philosophical theory presented by Hanna Arendt, in which the philosopher tries to explain the phenomenon of totalitarianism by presenting its genesis and its essential characteristics. The presentation of the two above views was made mainly on the basis of "Totalitarian Dictatorship and Autocracies", by the aforementioned political scientists and "Roots of Totalitarianism" written by Arendt, as well as other numerous publications on totalitarianism. In addition, the two concepts were compared and the author of this work's opinion on them was presented.
