Niniejsza praca magisterska poświęcona jest tematyce trudności w tłumaczeniu między dwoma językami : językiem francuskim quebeckim – joual oraz językiem polskim. Tekstem stanowiącym źródło omawianych problemów tłumaczeniowych jest nowela kanadyjskiego pisarza Jacques’a Renaud pt. Le Cassé. Praca podzielona jest na trzy części. Część pierwsza poświęcona jest prezentacji noweli Le Cassé, przybliżeniu postaci autora oraz krótkiemu omówieniu historii Quebecu od czasów jego powstania do XX wieku. Z uwagi na narodowy charakter tekstu w pierwszej części przybliżony jest również temat rodzącego się w społeczeństwie quebeckim nacjonalizmu. Część druga pracy poświęcona jest w całości językowi joual używanemu na terenie Quebecu w XX wieku. W tej części omówione zostało zarówno pochodzenie i powstawanie joual, jak również jego rola w budowaniu tożsamości narodowościowej mieszkańców Quebecu XX wieku. Trzecia część pracy skupia się w całości na trudnościach w tłumaczeniu z języka joual na język polski ukazanych na przykładach fragmentów noweli Le Cassé. W praktycznej części pracy obok analizy problemów tłumaczeniowych takich jak : zapis fonetyczny, przekład tytułu, anglicyzmy, wulgaryzmy, kulturemy oraz tzw. utarte wyrażenia przedstawiono również propozycje ich rozwiązań w tłumaczeniu na język polski.

This master’s thesis focuses on the difficulties of translation between two languages : French Québécois – joual and Polish. The text being the source of the mentioned difficulties is a canadian novella Le Cassé written by Jacques Renaud. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part is dedicated to the presentation of novella and its author as well as to the short review of Quebec’s history starting for its birth till the 20th century. Due to the natonalist character of the novella the first part of the thesis talks also about the nationalism bearing in the Québécois society. The second part of the thesis is as a whole dedicated to the joual language used in Quebec during the 20th century. Both : the joual’s origin and the formation are mentioned in this part of the thesis as well as joual’s role in the process of creating Quebec’s inhabitants national identity in 20th century. The third part of the thesis focuses completely on the difficulties of translation from joual to Polish based on the fragments of the novella Le Cassé. In this practical part of the thesis next to the analysis of the difficulties of translation such as : phonetic spelling, title’s translation, anglicisms, vulgarisms, culturemes and so-called set expressions there are also presented the solutions of the translation of these difficulties into Polish language.

Le présent mémoire est consacré à la question des difficultés de traduction entre deux langues : le français québécois – le joual et le polonais. Le texte source des difficultés mentionnées est la novella Le Cassé d’un auteur canadien Jacques Renaud. Le mémoire est divisé en trois parties. La première partie est consacrée à la présentation de la novella Le Cassé et son auteur ainsi qu’à la courte analyse de l’histoire du Québec dès sa naissance jusqu’au XXème siècle. À cause du caractère nationaliste du texte la première partie du mémoire parle également du nationalisme naissant dans la société québécoise. La deuxième partie du mémoire est entièrement consacrée à la langue jouale utilisée sur le territoire du Québec pendant le XXème siècle. Dans cette partie on parle à la fois de la naissance et de la formation du joual ainsi que du rôle de cette langue dans le processus de la création d’identité nationale des habitants du Québec au XXème siècle. La troisième partie se concentre en entier sur les difficultés de traduction du joual en polonais présentées sur les fragments de la novella Le Cassé. Dans cette partie pratique du mémoire, à côté de l’analyse des difficultés de traduction telles que : écriture phonétique, traduction du titre, anglicismes, vulgarismes, culturèmes, expressions figées, on propose également des solutions de traduction de ces difficultés en polonais.
