Suicide in Japanese pop culture on example of manga and anime

Tematem pracy jest sprawdzenie, w jaki sposób motyw samobójstwa przedstawiany jest w popkulturze japońskiej na przykładach mangi i anime. W kwestii definicji oraz typologii samobójstwa inspirowałam się badaniami Emila Durkheima, które następnie wykorzystałam przy analizie przykładów mang i anime ukazujących w najciekawszy sposób motyw samobójstwa. W pracy znajdują się również informacje na temat historii samobójstwa zarówno na świecie, jak i w Japonii oraz ogólne informacje na temat samobójstwa w Japonii w ujęciu statystycznym oraz w japońskiej popkulturze.

In this paper I check how the suicide theme is presented in Japanese pop culture on examples of manga and anime. I refer to the Emiles Durkheim research in terms of definition and typology of suicide, which I then use to analyze examples of manga and anime presenting suicide theme in the most interesting way. In the paper you can also find informations about the history of suicide in the world and in Japan and general informations on suicide in Japan in statistical term and in Japanese pop culture.
