The phenomenon of reality shows in the United States based on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians".

Tematem niniejszej pracy jest fenomen programów reality show w Stanach Zjednoczonych na przykładzie jednego, wybranego przeze mnie programu pt.:" Keeping Up with the Kardashians". Za cel rozważań przyjąłem chęć ukazania roli, jaką pełnią programy z tego gatunku w telewizji, oraz jaki wywierają wpływ na telewidzów. Równie ważnym aspektem jest ich różnorodność, dzięki czemu reality show trafiają do szerokiego grona odbiorców. W pierwszym rozdziale pracy skoncentrowałem się na przedstawieniu omawianej kategorii programowej, jej historii oraz roli w TV. Kolejną część stanowią przykłady programów reality show i przybliżenie ogólnych informacji o tytułowym programie. Ma to na celu ukazanie szerokiego spektrum omawianego gatunku w telewizji, oraz przedstawienie wspomnianego fenomenu w Stanach Zjednoczonych, odnoszącego się do kategorii reality na przykładzie „Keeping Up with the Kardashians”. Finalny etap pracy licencjackiej poświęciłem na przeprowadzenie ankiety w Instytucie Amerykanistyki i Studiów Polonijnych w Krakowie. Jej wyniki przyczyniły się do stworzenia głębszej analizy gatunku reality show, oraz ukazania popularności omawianej kategorii wśród studentów zainteresowanych tematyką USA. Elementem zwieńczającym całość dokonanej pracy jest podsumowanie zawierające wnioski, które udało mi się skondensować na ostatniej stronie po przeanalizowaniu informacji ze wszystkich działów

The bachelor thesis, entitled 'The phenomenon of reality shows in the United States based on 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'', consists of five chapters and a summary. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of reality shows on their viewers and the popularity of the studied genre in the United States. The first chapter is focused on the history and role of this kind of program and, furthermore, defines the TV genre itself. The following chapter categorizes various television programs in subgroups. Next, there is presented the life of the Kardashian's family, and their influence on the media. This aims to prove, why ''Kepping Up with the Kardashians'' is so popular, and how it affects the lives of the contestants, making them a reality TV phenomenon. The last, but not least chapter contains a survey about the popularity of reality TV programs, which was carried out at the department of American Studies in Cracow. The final stage of the bachelor thesis includes a summary, which shows the results of this whole study.
