The activities of the Higher Seminary Library in Przemyśl after World War II.

The study presents the history of the Higher Seminary Library in Przemyśl, since its establishment at the end of the seventeenth century till the year 2010 and analyzes the activities of this institution in the years 1945-2010. It discusses the organization and functioning of this facility, it characterizes its collections and ways how they have been collected, described, stored and shared. Staff and library users have also been presented. Finally, it specifies forms and results of the work undertaken with other scientific and cultural centres, both regional and nationwide. The data for this study has been obtained by analyzing literature and sources and through interviews with library directors and their staff in 1966 - 2010.On the basis of the collected information, it has been found out that the directions of the analyzed activities do not deviate from the directions of activities of other such institutions.In its activities in the years 1945-2010 the Higher Seminary Libraryin Przemyśl focused on the implementation of the standard tasks of libraries, i.e. the collection, preparation, storage and resource sharing. Following the achievements of librarianship, taking into account personnel and material limitations as well as the specificity of the library, the institution managers took care of its overall development and adjusted its organization to the requirements of the times in order to best serve its users. In the analyzed period the rules according to which the basic library tasks were carried out were modified, which resulted in some areas in working out own and original methods by the researcher.

Opracowanie przedstawia historię Biblioteki Wyższego Seminarium Duchownego w Przemyślu od jej ustanowienia w końcu XVII wieku do 2010 roku oraz charakteryzuje działalność tej instytucji w latach 1945-2010. Omówiono organizację i funkcjonowanie placówki, scharakteryzowano jej zbiory oraz zasady ich gromadzenia, opracowania, przechowywania i udostępniania, przedstawiono pracowników i użytkowników biblioteki, wyszczególniono formy i rezultaty współpracy podejmowanej z innymi bibliotekami, ośrodkami naukowymi i kulturalnymi regionalnymi i ogólnopolskimi. Dane do pracy pozyskano w wyniku analizy piśmiennictwa, analizy źródeł oraz za pomocą wywiadów z dyrektorami biblioteki i jej pracownikami w latach 1966-2010.Na podstawie analizy zgromadzonego materiału stwierdzono, iż kierunki aktywności badanej instytucji nie odbiegają od kierunków aktywności innych tego typu placówek. W swojej działalności w latach 1945-2010 Biblioteka Wyższego Seminarium Duchownego w Przemyślu koncentrowała się na realizacji standardowych zadań bibliotek, tj. gromadzeniu, opracowaniu, przechowywaniu i udostępnianiu zasobu. Wzorując się na osiągnięciach bibliotekoznawstwa, uwzględniając możliwości kadrowe, materialne i specyfikę biblioteki, kierownicy placówki dbali o jej wszechstronny rozwój i dostosowywali jej organizację do wymogów czasów po to, by jak najlepiej służyła użytkownikom. W okresie będącym przedmiotem zainteresowania, zasady, według których realizowano podstawowe zadania biblioteki ulegały modyfikacjom, co skutkowało wypracowaniem w niektórych obszarach działalności własnych metod pracy.
