Puppet theater in Asia as an element of cultural heritage

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przybliżenie charakterystyki teatru lalek, który wyróżnia się spośród innych rodzajów teatru. Obszar analizy dotyczy Europy oraz Azji, gdyż te kontynenty posiadają najbogatszą i najlepiej zachowaną historię dotyczącą tego zagadnienia. Oprócz kluczowych zagadnień dotyczących kultury i dziedzictwa kulturowego zawiera opis trzech wybranych tradycji lalkowych z różnych części Azji: teatru lalek wajang z Indonezji, teatru cieni karagöz z Turcji oraz teatru lalek ningyō jōruri bunraku z Japonii. Kluczem doboru przykładów jest ich wpisanie na Listę reprezentatywną niematerialnego dziedzictwa kulturowego ludzkości UNESCO. W pracy istnieje też fragment, który opisuje dokładne struktury Organizacji UNESCO, listy, które tworzy i jej pozytywną rolę, którą pełni w ochronie tego dziedzictwa. Praca stanowi próbę przeanalizowania korzeni oraz współczesnych podobieństw i różnic w azjatyckim i europejskim teatrze lalek.

The theme is the characteristics of puppet theater which is different from other types of theater. The area of analysis concerns Europe and Asia, as these continents have the richest and best-preserved history of this issue. In addition to the key issues related to culture and cultural heritage, it describes three selected puppet traditions from different parts of Asia. These include the wajang puppet theater from Indonesia, the karagöz shadow theater from Turkey and the ningyō jōruri bunraku puppet theater from Japan. The key to selecting examples is their inclusion on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. There is also an excerpt in the work that describes the exact structures of the UNESCO Organization, the lists it creates and its positive role in protecting this heritage. The work is an attempt to analyze the roots and contemporary similarities and differences in Asian and European puppet theater.
