Indie games as a carrier of Buddhist message

Celem niniejszej pracy jest opisanie gier internetowych, dostępnym na portalu DharmaGames, analiza ich formy i treści oraz podsumowanie, czego można się z nich nauczyć. Praca podzielona jest na trzy rozdziały. W pierwszym z nich zostaje omówiona teoria tworzenia gier komputerowych oraz pozytywne skutki grania w nie. Następnie opisane zostają gry niezależne oraz możliwości ich udostępniania a także to, że są one dobrym środkiem przekazywania oryginalnych treści. Rozdział drugi prezentuje buddyjską ideę zręcznych środków oraz mahajanistyczny ideał bodhisattwy. Zostają również omówione fragmenty Sutry Lotosu. W rodziale trzecim znajduje się analiza gier z portalu DharmaGames.

The aim of this thesis is to describe web games, published on the DharmaGames website, the analysis of their looks and content and determining what can be learnt from them. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first focuses on the theory of computer game design and on the positive effects of playing computer games. Next, there is a description of indie games, ways of publishing them and the fact that they are a good carrier of unique messages. The second chapter presents the Buddhist idea of skillful means and Mahayana Buddhism ideal, the bodhisattva. Some fragments of the Lotus Sutra are also described. The third chapter consists of the analysis of the games found on DharmaGames website.
