Stereotype of Gypses in Slovak and Polish phraseology

StreszczenieCelem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej była charakterystyka nazewnictwa tatrzańskiegow ujęciu porównawczym.Aby zająć się tematyką nazewnictwa, postarałam się przybliżyć charakter Tatr, losyludności zamieszkującej Podtatrze od najdawniejszych wieków oraz historię i wzajemnerelacje Polski i Słowacji w oparciu o teren pograniczny na odcinku tatrzańskim. Poruszyłamkwestie współpracy transgranicznej, nawiązywanej pomiędzy organizacjami działającymi poobu stronach Tatr .W drugim rozdziale mojej pracy omówiłam, czym jest onomastyka, jej kierunkirozwoju, a także wymieniłam najważniejszych językoznawców światowych i polskich, którzyzajmowali się tą dziedziną wiedzy. Poruszyłam kwestię motywacji w onomastyce i omówiłamjej dziedzinę, jaką jest toponomastyka. Następnie przedstawiłam klasyfikacje nazewnictwa zewzględu na strukturę, semantykę i etymologię. Poszczególne kryteria poparłam wybranymiprzeze mnie przykładami nazw tatrzańskich. Na materiale toponimów tatrzańskich, ułożyłamwłasne klasyfikacje: strukturalną i etymologiczną.W trzecim rozdziale tejże pracy odniosłam się do etymologii nazwy samych Tatr,a następnie przedstawiłam dzieje badaczy tych gór, ich metody i postępy w prowadzonychprzez nich badaniach, oraz wymieniłam współczesnych tatrologów, związanych z tatrzańskątoponimią i przytoczyłam ich główne dzieła.W ostatnim rozdziale mojej pracy przedstawiłam cechy nadające wyjątkowośćtatrzańskiej toponimii, wymieniłam zjawiska w niej występujące i opisałam motywacje nazww języku polskim i słowackim. Omówiłam także rozwiązania związane z nadawaniem nazww obydwóch państwach oraz stosunek kartografii i nazewnictwa tatrzańskiego. Odniosłamsię również do współczesności, stanu liczby nazw a także obecnej sytuacji, jaka panuje wprocesach denominacyjnych po obu stronach granicy.W zakończeniu umieściłam swoje wnioski i wyniki przeprowadzonej przeze mnieanonimowej ankiety na temat toponimii tatrzańskiej.

AbstractThe purpose of this Master’s thesis was to characterize the name designation of theTatras in the comparative frame.In order to deal with the subject matter of the name designation, I attempted to bringcloser the character of the Tatra mountains, the fate of the population inhabiting the Podtatrzeregion from the oldest ages, as well as the history and mutual relations of Poland and Slovakiabased on the frontier area in the Tatras. I raised the issue of cross-border cooperation, whichwas established among organizations conducting activities on both sides of the Tatras.In the second chapter of the dissertation, I defined onomastics, its ways ofdevelopment, and I listed the most eminent world and Polish linguists who dealt with thisarea of science. I also raised the issue of motivation in onomastics, and I defined its relatedfield, which is toponomastics. I proceeded to classify the name designation from the point ofview of structure, semantics and etymology. The above mentioned criteria were supported byparticular names existing in the Tatras chosen by me. On the material of the Tatra toponyms Icreated my own classifications: structural and etymological.In the third chapter of this thesis, I referred to the etymology of the Tatras themselves,and next I described the history of the mountains’ researchers, their methods and progressin the research conducted by them, and, finally, I listed contemporary experts on the Tatrasconnected with Tatras’ toponymy and I quoted their main works.In the last chapter of my dissertation, I presented the features which give the Tatras’toponimy an exceptional character, I enumerated the phenomena occurring in it, and Idescribed the derivation of names in the Polish and Slovakian languages. I also discussedthe solutions related to assigning names in both countries, as well as the relation betweencartography and the Tatras’ designation. I also referred to contemporary times, the numberof designations,the current situation existing in denomination processes on both sides of thefrontier.At the end, I placed my own conclusions as well as the results of an anonymoussurvey on the Tatras’ toponymy, which I conducted.
