Przyczyny wzrostu częstości występowania chorób alergicznych
alergia, alergen , status społeczno-ekonomiczny
allergy, allergen, socio-economic status
Introduction: Allergy is disease of XXI century, more than 30% of world population suffer from allergic disorders. Aim of the study: to determine the prevalence of allergies and its correlation with socio-economic status.Materials and methods: 700 female students of Jagiellonian University in Kraków, University of Physical Eductaion in Kraków and University in Łódź. Women were asked to answer to the questions whether the allergy and specific allergens were medically diagnosed. Socio-economic status have been defined by place of living before entering study on university and level of parents education. Results: The incidence of allergies in the study group was 29.71%, the most common type of allergy was respiratory allergy. Women living in the village before the period of study twice less suffered from allergic diseases. Study shows that higher parents education level due to greater morbidity, but the difference is not statistically significant, while having siblings turned out to be an important factor in the incidence of allergies. Those with large families less often suffered from allergic diseases than only children. Generally people with higher socio-economic status the most frequently have allergies. Conclusions: The results confirmed the hygiene hypothesis, which assumes that people of higher status are more prone to allergic diseases.
