Niniejsza praca stanowi nowatorskie podejście do przedstawienia struktury i działalności organizacji Ku Klux Klan w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Poprzez rzetelną analizę tego zjawiska społecznego, praca może wypełnić lukę we współczesnej, polskiej literaturze naukowej, ukazując istotne zagadnienia związane z tym kontrowersyjnym ruchem, jego dalszej ewolucji, po współczesność, ze szczególnym zwróceniem uwagi na analizę obecnego stanu wiedzy oraz opinii Amerykanów mieszkających w stanie Maryland na temat tej organizacji. Struktura pracy odzwierciedla przedstawiony zarys tematyczny. W rozdziale pierwszym skupiono się na przedstawieniu historycznego tła i genezy powstania Ku Klux Klanu, wyjaśnieniu znaczenia i pochodzenia nazwy organizacji. Precyzyjnie opisano jej strukturę i motywy działania. Drugi rozdział pracy przedstawia Ku Klux Klan w okresie rekonstrukcji z 1915 roku. Wykorzystano metody badawcze, takie jak deskrypcja, aby dostarczyć wnikliwej i dokładnej charakterystyki, oraz analizę porównawczą, aby zbadać różnice między poszczególnymi wariantami organizacji. Pokazano także ewolucję jej działalności w tamtym czasie, ekspansję na dużą skalę oraz działania polityczne członków Klanu.W trzecim rozdziale zastosowano metodologię opisowo-analityczną, umożliwiającą dogłębne zbadanie i opisanie struktury podziału "Niewidzialnego Imperium", a także analizę funkcjonowania niezależnych inicjatyw bez centralnego ośrodka. Ta metoda pozwala na zrozumienie różnorodnych cech, identyfikację podobieństw i różnic, a także wykrycie ewentualnych wzorców czy tendencji w ich działaniu. Omówiono kwestię prześladowań i ataków ze względu na rasę, religię i pochodzenie etniczne. Ponadto, przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych przeprowadzonych w stanie Maryland w Stanach Zjednoczonych, które miały na celu dogłębne zbadanie poziomu wiedzy i opinii społeczeństwa na temat organizacji Ku Klux Klan oraz jej działalności w Stanach Zjednoczonych Ameryki.

This thesis represents an innovative approach to presenting the structure and activities of the Ku Klux Klan organization in the United States. Through a thorough analysis of this social phenomenon, the thesis aims to fill a gap in contemporary Polish scientific literature by addressing important issues related to this controversial movement, its ongoing evolution, and its contemporary relevance, with particular emphasis on analyzing the current state of knowledge and opinions of Americans residing in the state of Maryland regarding this organization.The structure of the thesis reflects the outlined thematic framework. The first chapter focuses on presenting the historical background and genesis of the Ku Klux Klan, explaining the significance and origin of the organization's name. Its structure and motives are precisely described. The second chapter presents the Ku Klux Klan during the Reconstruction era of 1915. Research methods such as description are employed to provide an insightful and accurate characterization, and comparative analysis is used to examine the differences between various iterations of the organization. It also showcases the evolution of its activities during that time, widespread expansion, and the political actions of Klan members.The third chapter utilizes a descriptive-analytical methodology, enabling a thorough examination and description of the divisional structure of the "Invisible Empire," as well as an analysis of the functioning of independent initiatives without a central governing body. This method allows for understanding diverse characteristics, identifying similarities and differences, and uncovering potential patterns or trends in their operations. The chapter discusses issues of racial, religious, and ethnic persecution and attacks. Additionally, it presents the results of survey research conducted in the state of Maryland in the United States, which aimed to comprehensively investigate the level of knowledge and societal opinions regarding the Ku Klux Klan organization and its activities in the United States of America.
