Loneliness of the elderly and its determinants

Praca dotyczy poczucia osamotnienia ludzi starszych. W części teoretycznej zostały opisane najważniejsze zagadnienia dotyczące starzenia się i starości. Rozwinięta została również tematyka samotności i osamotnienia osób starszych, ukazująca przyczynyi konsekwencje tych stanów oraz sposoby zwalczania i radzenia sobie z nią. W części empirycznej ukazane zostały wyniki badań ilościowych, informujących o tym jakie jest poczucie osamotnienia starszych osób mieszkających w Domu Pomocy Społecznej w Klęczanach oraz seniorów mieszkających w swoich domach rodzinnych. Jednocześnie przedstawione zostały czynniki, które mogą różnicować poziom poczucia osamotnienia, takie jak: miejsce zamieszkania, sieć wsparcia społecznego, aktywność społeczna, subiektywne poczucie stanu zdrowia oraz cechy społeczno – demograficzne: wiek, płeć, wykształcenie oraz stan cywilny.

The work concerns the feelings of loneliness among older people. In the theoretical part describes the most important issues relating to aging and old age. Has also been developed themes of solitude and loneliness of the elderly, showing the reasons and the consequences of these conditions and ways to combat and cope with it. In the empirical part shown the results of quantitative research, informing about what is the feeling of loneliness of older people living in a social house in Klęczany and seniors living in their family houses. At the same time presents the factors that can differentiate levels of loneliness, such as place of residence, social support network, social activity, subjective sense of health and socio - demographic: age, sex, education and marital status.
