Arthurian Motifs and Values in Youth Popular Culture: Cultural Education through Arthurian Themes in Polish Language Classes

Celem pracy jest zbadanie obecności oraz recepcji legend o królu Arturze i rycerzach Okrągłego Stołu wśród nauczycieli oraz uczniów polskich szkół podstawowych oraz ponadpodstawowych. W części teoretycznej przedstawiono genezę, rozwój i ewolucję tradycji arturiańskiej, która znacznie wykracza poza średniowieczny kontekst. Praca ma charakter komparatystyczny i ukazuje trwałą obecność motywów arturiańskich we współczesnej kulturze popularnej. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono możliwościom wykorzystania tych zasobów w edukacji polonistycznej. Część badawcza obejmuje propozycje dydaktyczne, służące włączaniu tekstów i motywów arturiańskich do praktyki szkolnej oraz analizę wyników badań dotyczących odbioru tych treści.

The aim of this study is to investigate the presence and reception of the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table among teachers and students in Polish primary and secondary schools. The theoretical part presents the origins, development, and evolution of the Arthurian tradition, which extends far beyond its medieval context. The study adopts a comparative approach and demonstrates the enduring presence of Arthurian motifs in contemporary popular culture. Particular attention is paid to the possibilities of using these resources in Polish language and literature education. The research section of the thesis includes teaching proposals designed to incorporate Arthurian texts and motifs into school practice, as well as an analysis of research findings concerning the reception of these themes.
