Problem of Alcohol Use and Its Relationship with Self-Efficacy, Self-Esteem, and Basic Hope in Young Adults

Przedmiotem pracy jest analiza zależności między używaniem alkoholu przez młodych dorosłych a ich poczuciem własnej skuteczności, samooceną oraz poziomem nadziei podstawowej. W części teoretycznej przedstawiono kontekst społeczny i psychologiczny używania alkoholu, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem sytuacji w Polsce. Omówiono także kluczowe pojęcia związane z badanymi zmiennymi, skupiając się przede wszystkim na sytuacji młodych dorosłych. W części empirycznej opisano badanie, które przeprowadzono na grupie 70 osób w wieku 18–25 lat, stosując następujące metody kwestionariuszowe: Kwestionariusz Nadziei Podstawowej BHI-12, Skala Uogólnionej Własnej Skuteczności GSES, Skala Samooceny Rosenberga, Kwestionariusz Oczekiwanych Efektów Używania Alkoholu oraz Skala Używania Alkoholu. Wyniki badania potwierdziły m.in związek pomiędzy poziomem nadziei podstawowej oraz charakterystyką oczekiwań związanych z używaniem alkoholu. Wnioski z badań podkreślają znaczenie działań profilaktycznych i edukacyjnych skierowanych do młodych dorosłych, mających na celu wzmacnianie ich zasobów psychologicznych i ograniczanie negatywnych skutków nadużywania alkoholu.

The subject of this study is the analysis of the relationship between alcohol use among young adults and their self-efficacy, self-esteem, and level of basic hope. The theoretical part of thesis presents the social and psychological context of alcohol use, with particular emphasis on the situation in Poland. It also discusses key concepts related to the studied variables, focusing primarily on the context of young adulthood. The empirical part of thesis describes a study conducted on a group of 70 individuals aged 18–25, using the following questionnairebased methods: Basic Hope Questionnaire (BHI-12), Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), Comprehensive Effects of Alcohol Questionnaire (CEAQ) and Scale of Alcohol Use. The study results confirmed, among other aspects, a relationship between the level of basic hope and the characteristics of alcohol-related expectancies. The conclusions highlight the importance of preventive and educational initiatives targeted at young adults, aiming to strengthen their psychological resources and reduce the negative consequences of alcohol use.
