The Architecture of the church of Saint Casimir in Nowy Sącz

Niniejsza praca licencjacka jest studium architektury kościoła pw. św. Kazimierza w Nowym Sączu. Kościół wzniesiono w latach 1908-1912, a za jego projekt odpowiadał jeden z najwybitniejszych, polskich architektów XIX i XX wieku– Teodor Talowski. Autorka zajęła się prześledzeniem historii kościoła, opisem jego architektury, analizą cech formalnych budowli i zestawiła go z innymi dziełami Talowskiego oraz budowlami z okresu, kiedy architekt ten tworzył. W celu zrealizowania badań przeprowadziła kwerendy archiwalne, biblioteczne oraz terenowe. Opierając się na dostępnej literaturze i oryginalnych projektach Talowskiego szczególną uwagę poświęciła inspiracjom angielskim gotykiem oraz niemiecką i austriacką architekturą neogotycką, zmianom jakie zaszły pomiędzy projektem kościoła z roku 1899 8 lat później, oraz cechom charakterystycznym dla twórczości Talowskiego zastosowanym w tej realizacji.

This dissertation is a study of the architecture of the church of Saint Casimir in Nowy Sącz. The church was erected between 1908 and 1912, whereby the person entrusted with its design was one of the most prominent Polish architects of the 19th and 20th century - Teodor Talowski. The author of this disseration retraced the history of the church, described its architecture and, after analyzing the formal features of the building, compared it with other works of Talowski as well as with selected buildings from the period in which he had worked. In order to conduct the research, the author performed archive, library and field studies. Basing on the available literature and original projects created by Talowski, the author of this disseration focused in parcticual on the inspiration drawn from the English Gothic as well as German and Austrian Neo-Gothic architecture, differences between the project dated 1899 and the one created 8 years later, as well as on the characteristics of the architect's work visible in this project.
