Badanie miało charakter pilotażowy i objęło 30 respondentek – matek dzieci w wieku do 9 lat, 7 niepracujące i 23 pracujące W procedurze badawczej wykorzystano ankietę własną (metryczkę) oraz trzy standaryzowane narzędzia psychometryczne (gotowe skale): Skala Motywacji Osiągnięć (SMO), Skala Kompetencje Przechodnie (KPK) oraz Skala Samooceny SES Morrisa Rosenberga.
The decision by mothers of children aged up to 9 to withdraw from the labour market is an issue of both an ethical and social nature. Addressing this issue requires not only an interdisciplinary approach—combining demographic, psychological and economic perspectives—but also a holistic one that considers a comprehensive assessment of the mothers’ personal resources. This study attempts to provide a comprehensive analysis of the issue, in which motherhood is a factor influencing employment, along with the associated barriers. A key area of analysis is mothers’ capital in the form of achievement motivation, self-esteem and transferable skills, and its relationship to a woman’s employment status. The study was a pilot study and involved 30 respondents – mothers of children aged up to 9 years, 7 of whom were not in employment and 23 of whom were in employment. The research procedure utilised a self-designed questionnaire (demographic form) and three standardised psychometric tools (ready-made scales): the Achievement Motivation Scale (SMO), the Transitional Competence Scale (KPK) and Morris Rosenberg’s Self-Rating Scale (SES). The questionnaires were administered via both traditional (PAPI) and electronic (CAWI) methods. The results obtained during the study have significant practical value and can serve as guidelines for designing training programs and mentoring sessions for women returning to the labour market after maternity leave.
